Let's get started. Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of the Confident Tween and Teen Podcast. I'm so happy that you're here with me tuning in for another episode. This week we are going to be diving into a topic around comfort zones. First, I want to remind you to head over to the show notes so that you can request a topic for me. If you have a topic that you want me to talk about on the podcast, I would love for you to head over there and it's just like texting on your phone. You can text me, there's no reply back, a topic that you think that I should cover for the podcast. So head over to the show notes. You can click that link. I would love to hear what you would like to hear on the podcast. And let's dive into this week's episode all about comfort zones. So a comfort zone is that comfortable, cozy bubble that protects us from everything that we're afraid of and the uncertainty in our life. And I want to start out by saying that a comfort zone isn't always a bad thing because it can protect us when we're going to do something that might hurt us. But there's a time where a comfort zone actually isn't good for us because it keeps us held back from our full potential, from growing, from being more confident in ourselves. And the most rewarding experiences in your life often come when you push those boundaries, when you step outside of your comfort zone, when you do hard things, when you do the unknown. So anything that you ever achieved in your life you probably weren't in your comfort zone. You probably were outside of that comfort zone. So when you tried out for a team or you wanted to make the play at school, you had to try out and you had to go outside your comfort zone to do those things. So why we venture outside our comfort zone is so beneficial and so crucial for building our confidence. It can help us shift our perspective on ourself, which is the coolest thing. We try new things and we see the world in a different way and we see ourselves in a different way because we never thought we could do something but you did it and you tried it anyway and it helps you shift your perspective on yourself it really increases your confidence as well when you step outside your comfort zone you overcome challenges you fall down and you get back up again and you believe in your abilities and your confidence just skyrockets and when true confidence is built is when we believe in ourselves and our abilities, when we believe that we have what it takes, even though we don't see the end result, even though it's a little scary, as soon as we believe in our abilities that anything is possible, that's when our confidence will grow. So I want to challenge you to do something that's a little bit outside of your comfort zone this week. I want you to take a little small step and that little small step is going to make such a big difference. I don't want you to take this huge leap of faith and do something that's completely out of the ordinary. I want you to do something small this week that's going to step you outside of your comfort zone. You can do something that is really going to push your limits for yourself. The thing about comfort zones is that not everyone's comfort zones are the same and that's the cool part. Some kids might love standing up in front of the class and talking and some kids don't. You have to know what your comfort zone level is. Are you afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger? Are you afraid to speak your mind? Those are all things that you can practice doing. A really great way to step outside your comfort zone, I feel, is trying a new activity or learning a new skill. This is something really cool that Grace and I have done in the past. We took online classes that we never tried before. We took hand lettering classes. We tried watercolor. We tried chalk art. We did something that we just found on YouTube and we tried it for the first time. And yeah, we stunk at first, but we kept practicing and we really stepped outside of our comfort zone. comfort zone doing things that we don't normally do. And that is the best way to grow and to learn. And Grace actually found out that she's really good at hand lettering. It took some practice for her to get there, but she's really great at it and she loves doing it. So you can find something that you love to do or that you're really good at if you just step outside your comfort zone and try something new. Another cool idea for stepping outside your comfort zone is actually really big for a Try something new to eat, like a new food. You could order something different at a restaurant or you could make a great recipe at home that you find on Pinterest or just scrolling on TikTok. Trying new things and getting into the habit of stepping outside your comfort zone and doing something a little bit uncomfortable is going to help you grow your confidence. Another way that you can challenge yourself this week is just by saying no to something that you don't want to do. Say all your friends are doing something and you'd really rather just stay home and be with your family or you'd rather do something else. You need to prioritize your own needs and set that boundary and learn to stand up for yourself and say no. A lot of the times saying no to someone or to about something is really really hard for people and learning to say no and standing up for yourself is such a great practice to have and you need to start that now. You need to prioritize your own needs and what you want in your life and you have to learn how to say no to people sometimes. So I hope that you will try to do something really small this week that will get you outside your comfort zone. Remember, the goal isn't to eliminate that fear altogether because when you step outside your comfort zone, you're going to have that little bit of uncomfortable feeling and that is totally normal. When I was young I thought that feeling meant that I was doing something wrong and I needed to stop. It's not. You acknowledge that feeling, you embrace it, and you take action despite of it. Now, I'm not saying doing something crazy that's going to hurt you. It's going to be something small, like trying something new or trying a new food that we talked about, saying no, striking up a conversation with a stranger, giving someone a compliment that's just passing you by that you don't even know, someone you don't even know. I want you to try something really small to get you understanding what a zone feels like and going outside of it. It's a really cool thing to learn about at your age. And I wish I would have understood what a comfort zone was at that age. And we all have comfort zones. It's those familiar spaces where we feel safe and secure. And it's not always a bad thing. But if you want to grow and you want to have more confidence, you have to venture beyond that feeling. You have to do some brave things in your life to really grow your confidence. So I hope that you'll step outside your comfort zone this week and do something really, really cool. And of course, you could always email me and let me know what you're going to do this week I want you to do this have your whole family do it too each of you pick something that you are going to do that's going to step you outside of that comfort zone you're going to see so much growth with each one of you and I can't wait to hear about it so I hope that you have a wonderful day I hope you enjoyed this week's episode for comfort zones it's such a great topic it's such a great confidence builder and summer is a perfect time to test out your comfort zone and to go beyond that comfort zone and do something really brave and and new. So I hope that you have a wonderful day. And if this episode was helpful, I would love for you to share it on social media or through text or anyone that needs some confidence building.
